Common questions
Will a whirlybird make my roof leak?
Not when it's fitted properly. We use flashing made for your roof profile, tile or metal, and seal every install. If one we've fitted ever leaks, we'll fix it.
Are they noisy?
A good-quality vent that's fitted level is close to silent. Noise usually means worn bearings or a poor install. We can replace noisy old vents too.
How many do I need?
A common rule of thumb is one vent for every 50–90 m² of roof. Use the calculator above for a starting point and we'll confirm from your photos.
Do they help in winter?
Yes. They let damp air out of the roof space, which helps reduce condensation and mould.
Do I need eave vents as well?
Air needs a way into the roof for a vent to pull it out. Most tiled roofs breathe enough on their own. We'll tell you from the photos if yours needs more airflow.
